It’s almost that time of the year where teenagers all over the country prepare for one of the most  memorable nights of their lives: Prom. Heritage is thrilled to bring back prom this year for the first time since 2019…three years later. Save the date for April 2, 2022, at the Hilton Garden Inn, Crabtree from 7-11pm. 

In preparation for this event, you must complete the prom permission form, which can be found here, student services, or the office. Once you have completed the form, take it to the SGA table in the commons, which is open Monday-Friday from 7:00-7:20am.

Although some may be hesitant to attend, there are many reasons to go. It may be one of the most unforgettable high school experiences! Whether you’re going with a group of friends, or with a date, there is no excuse not to dress up, take pictures, and dance your heart out. If you need more convincing, here’s a list of reasons of why you should go to prom:

1. Make memories!

When reflecting on high school, prom is one of those experiences you will never forget. This is the night where you can let loose with all of your friends and dance until you can’t. 

2. Dressing up

It’s not every day that you get to dress up in fancy clothing! This is your chance to go shopping with your friends to find the perfect outfit. There are several shopping places in the Triangle area like Macy’s, Dillards, Windsor, Chique Prom, and VIP Formal Wear. On the day of prom, you get to take pictures with all of your friends so you can capture this amazing night in a great outfit forever!

3. Spend quality time with your friends

This one is for the seniors out there. Graduation is just around the corner from prom. Attending this is one of the last events you may attend with your friends. Soon, you will all begin your own lives at different colleges around the country. This may be the one last great experience of your entire high-school career. Make the most out of the time you have left. Even if you’re a junior, this is still a great opportunity to have a great night out with your friends.

Prom isn’t for everyone. But at the end of the day, you don’t want to reflect on your high school experiences with regrets. You may go to prom and end up hating it. But, you don’t know until you try. Go to prom at least once, and, with the right people, you will have the time of your life.

4. It’s fun!

There’s nothing more fun than letting loose and dancing for hours with everyone you know. The thing is, don’t put too much pressure on having the best night ever. Going into prom with the mindset that this will be your “perfect” night, will only set you up for failed expectations. Chances are, it’s not going to be a perfect night, but being around the right people can make it pretty close.
