Demi Lovato is a 28-year-old pop singer who made her first appearance in the public eye at the young age of 7. Demi’s struggle with addiction is no secret in Hollywood, as she experienced many traumatic events in the harsh entertainment industry. Pained with the stress of being a young pop-star, Lovato was checked into a facility where she was treated for eating disorders, depression, and self-harm. After her treatment in 2010, Demi opened up about how her physical and mental illnesses influenced her to abuse substances. Seeing how her use of alcohol and drugs affected her family, friends, and herself, Lovato decided to start her journey in maintaining sobriety. Unfortunately, in 2018, after being sober for six years, many celebrities and Lovatics around the world were shocked to hear that Demi was fighting for her life after an overdose. Fortunately, doctors were able to save Demi, and she later decided to check into rehab for a second time. After months of treatment, Lovato gradually stepped back into the spotlight and used her near-death experience to educate her fans about the importance of mental health and self-love. Recently, she announced that she would be releasing a 4-part Youtube Originals documentary that would follow her life and capture her battle in overcoming substance abuse. As you get your popcorn and tissues, here’s a breakdown of the Dancing with the Devil trailer,, and what fans are anticipating before the premiere.

Breaking the Odds

In the trailer of Demi Lovato’s new documentary, she struck the attention of many viewers when revealing that she suffered from three strokes and a heart attack after being hospitalized for relapsing in 2018. “My doctors said that I had five to ten more minutes,” Lovato stated as she explained how her addiction nearly led to her death. “I’m on my ninth life,” she included. If this news isn’t heartbreaking enough, in an Associated Press interview, Demi said that since overdosing, she’s still not able to drive because of blind spots in her vision. Her sight declined to the point where she had trouble reading for months. “It was a big deal when I was able to read a book, which was, like, two months later, because my vision was so blurry,” she quoted. After succumbing to drugs and alcohol, Demi continued to use her mistakes and embrace her imperfections to encourage others that failure is a part of success. Since viewing the trailer, it’s apparent that Lovato still struggles, but the demon of addiction has yet to defeat her.

Smashing the Wedding Bells

In March of 2020, the romance between Max Ehrich and Demi Lovato quickly began to heat up. After four months of dating, the couple revealed that they were engaged in a heartfelt Instagram post on the sandy Malibu beach. “When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his ‘little partner’ – something that might have sounded strange without his southern cowboy-like accent,” she wrote. “To me it made perfect sense. And today that word makes perfect sense again, but today I’m officially going to be someone else’s partner.” Everything seemed to be going great for the couple until a source close to the singer broke the news that the two love birds were calling it quits. The breakup especially came as a surprise to the public because the two split just a couple of months after Ehrich popped the question. Lots of drama and accusations arose after their relationship took a wrong turn. Ehrich claimed that he found out about their breakup in the press. The paparazzi even caught a glimpse of Max crying where he proposed to Lovato. “Imagine finding out about the status of your relationship through a tabloid,” he stated. Following this incident, fans believed that Ehrich was losing his mind when he begged Demi to contact him in an Instagram post. As this drama continued, the public began to speculate why the couple unexpectedly called it quits. With the premiere of Lovato’s documentary approaching, fans hope that she will clear the air and share the reason behind her calling off her engagement. Will she…?
