Hello! In case you didn’t know, I’m Halie Holland (pronounced like Haley, not Hallie). I am seventeen years old and was born on April 30th, 2001 in Warrenton, VA. I am currently a junior at Heritage High School. I come from a loving family of four and am the oldest child. I have a younger sister named Neera, who is a sassy thirteen-year-old who enjoys nagging me to drive her to Starbucks. My dad, Greg, is a nerd and shares my love for cats. Then there is my mom, Courtney, who is my superhero and favorite human being. My mom has been through a significant amount of hardship this past year. She had a severe stroke and life with her almost ceased to continue. I’ll spare the details because of personal reasons, but as of today, my mom is recovering at home, and every moment I spend with her is a true blessing.

I love spending time with my family and watching our favorite shows together. I like hanging out with the people I love and doing spontaneous activities I find on Pinterest with my friends. Playing with my cats and looking at cats online is something I enjoy a little too much…

Enough of the sad stuff and my obsession with cats. I’m a loving girl who has a strong passion for writing and fashion. I am very much connected to my inner-feelings and think that you need to feel them in order to move on. I like to try and keep myself as organized as possible, even though it gets quite hectic sometimes. If I were to describe myself, I would say that I am a perfectly put-together mess.

I am currently a hostess at Buffalo Brothers in Wake Forest. I enjoy hosting there, but I hate working past nine o’clock. I am like a grandma; I just want to be in bed in my pajamas at 8:30. I’ve only had one job before Buffalo Brothers and that was being a sales associate at Lily Mae’s. I absolutely loved it! Except for the fact that almost every time I worked I’d buy something.

Finally, you might be wondering why I joined the newspaper. It wasn’t because Twumasi begged me almost every day to join (he really did). I want to improve my writing and push my limits and see what I can accomplish. I’ve always enjoyed writing and have been told it’s something I should pursue. So, what better way to start than the school newspaper. I am super excited to be a part of the Heritage Herald and to get to know everyone.
