While people from around the world celebrated Earth Day on Sunday, April 22nd, people from around the school joined in their own celebration on Friday, April 20th. Various clubs and organizations held booths during all lunches, where students were able to play trivia, win prizes, tie-dye t-shirts, race on inflatable balls, and get little pots of soil to plant.
Before the event, students showcased their love for the earth by drawing pictures and writing quotes with chalk.
Those that brought their own t-shirt were able to get messy with plenty of vibrant colors.
Members of NHS and SGA participated in Earth Day by quizzing students on facts about our wonderful planet, as well as by educating them on the dangers of plastic straws, a common yet harmful every day item.
Students gathered in the gazebo, getting creative and repurposing old household supplies like pots, pans, and cleaning supplies.
Students were also able to color under the tent, or get pictures with their favorite fast food mascot!
Earth Day may have come and gone for this year, but the Earth will still be around, but only in the condition that we leave it in. Whether it’s picking up after yourself, recycling that water bottle, or eating less meat, every bit counts.
