Get hype! Pull out your wallets! It’s time for Operation Wisdom’s third T-Shirt Fast!
The school has had so much fun in the past wearing the same t-shirt every day for a week to raise awareness and money for a specific global issue. The first t-shirt fast raised $450 for the refugee crisis, and the second one last semester raised over $3,000 for Challenging Heights, a Ghanaian organization that aims to end child slavery.
For those of you who aren’t sure what a t-shirt fast is, it’s a special campaign format that Operation Wisdom has been using for the past couple years now. When people at school see a large swath of students all wearing the same shirt, it’s bound to draw attention. And when it’s the same shirt five days in a row, that’s a lot of awareness being raised, not only in the school, but in the community! What a difference it could make showing the community that students—teenagers—are standing up for an important issue.
Not only does this campaign open opportunities for those wearing the shirts to inform others about the issue, but it raises money to make a difference in the lives of others. Operation Wisdom raised over $3,000 last year to rescue child slaves. How much can we, as a school and community, raise this year for the Rohingya? The cool thing about this year’s shirt is that you have so many options to choose from!
There are short sleeve shirts! ($18)
Long sleeve shirts! ($25)
And even sweatshirts. ($35)
While the prices may be a little higher than what you’re used to spending on t-shirts, just keep in mind why you’re buying these shirts. It’s not to make a fashion statement. It’s not to fit in. It’s to stand out and to show you’re standing with these humans who are just like us, but are being persecuted for simply existing. Your money is not being wasted. Join Operation Wisdom in their push to raise awareness for this human rights travesty.
