The holiday season is the perfect time of year for generosity. Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and other celebrations get people in the holiday spirit; wanting to help others becomes second nature for many people. However, some don’t have the privilege of a festive family celebration at home. For the children who are long term patients at children’s hospitals such as St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, there are often small holiday celebrations with just a few gifts. Heritage’s Creative Writing Club wants to do their best to make these children’s holidays as fun as they can be!
From November 28 to December 12, 2016, the Creative Writing Club will be collecting books for children of all ages to be donated to various children’s hospitals, primarily the St. Jude hospital. You can contribute by donating books, from young children’s board books to thrilling YA novels, but there are also other ways to help! The club would appreciate new and interested members at meetings on Tuesdays in room 1524 to help out with flyers, decorating, collecting, and raising awareness. In the holiday spirit, club members will also be volunteering to read children’s Christmas and holiday stories at local bookstores. Help the Creative Writing Club and find your holiday spirit by giving to children in need!
