Heritage had a very exciting second week of the season across all sports. Missed any of it? You’re in the right place. Below, we’ve organized our updates from each of the five major sports into individual sections. Each section includes a mini-recap, scores, and a player of the week. Scores and stats are derived from MaxPreps. Unfortunately, many other schools have failed to submit scores on MaxPreps, so the standings can only reflect overall record. Let us know if we need to make a correction.
Varsity Softball
The Lady Huskies went 2-1 this week, with the only loss coming to defending 4-A State Champions Conley. In that game, the Huskies actually outhit their opponent, but left many stranded. A day before, the Huskies beat a very good Rolesville team in a 10 inning thriller. On Friday, they handled Leesville Road in a 6-0 shutout.
Results: 3/8 vs. Rolesville (W 6-5), 3/9 @ Conley (L 3-1), 3/11 vs. Leesville Road (W 6-0)
Cap-8 Standings: 1. Huskies (4-2), 2. Enloe (3-3), 3. Wakefield (2-2-1), 4. Wake Forest (2-2), 5. Millbrook (2-3), 6. Broughton (1-2), 7. Leesville Road (0-2), 8. Sanderson (0-4)
Player of the Week: Jordan Gontram. The senior was crucial in the Rolesville game and hit a home run yesterday. She has been very solid defensively.
Up Next: 3/15 @ Sanderson, 3/16 vs. Fuquay-Varina, 3/18 vs. Enloe
Varsity Baseball
The Diamond Huskies are the only remaining undefeated team in the Cap-8. After coming away with another convincing victory over a Rolesville team (that happened to beat a Wake Forest team that was 4-0 at the time), the Huskies rallied for a huge win over conference rival Leesville Road on Friday. The News & Observer has a good recap here. Next week, the Huskies will look to improve to 7-0 after facing two more conference opponents in Sanderson and Enloe.
Results: 3/8 vs. Rolesville (W 9-2), 3/11 vs. Leesville Road (W 4-3)
Cap-8 Standings: 1. Huskies (5-0), 2. Wake Forest (5-1), 3. Broughton (4-2), T4. Millbrook (3-2), T4. Wakefield (3-2), 6. Sanderson (3-3), 7. Leesville Road (1-4), 8. Enloe (1-5)
Player of the Week: Hunter Dickerson. The junior’s clutch shot into short right field is the reason the Huskies are still undefeated.
Up Next: 3/15 @ Sanderson, 3/18 vs. Enloe
Varsity Women’s Soccer
Husky Soccer posted a very successful second week, winning two games in a shutout fashion. On Saturday, they tied New Bern 1-1 in the Battle of the Beach. Their two wins came against Rolesville (7-0) and Garner Magnet (4-0). Next week, conference play begins with a home game against Leesville Road.
Results: 3/5 New Bern (T 1-1), 3/8 @ Rolesville (W 7-0), 3/9 @Garner (W 4-0)

Varsity Men’s Lacrosse
The Men’s Lacrosse team couldn’t come away with a victory this week, but they did hold their own. On Tuesday, they were with Millbrook for the majority of the second half. On Wednesday, the Jordan Falcons struggled to pull away from the Huskies. NOTE: We need someone to submit a player of the week.
Results: 3/8 @ Millbrook (L 15-11), 3/9 @ Jordan (L 9-5), 3/11 vs. Leesville Road (L 11-2)
Conference 4 Standings: 1. Broughton (4-0), 2. Wakefield (3-0), T3. Enloe (3-1), T3. Millbrook (3-1), 5. Leesville Road (3-2), 6. Sanderson (1-2), 7. Huskies (1-4), 8. Garner Magnet (0-4)

Varsity Women’s Lacrosse
The Lady Huskies went 2-1 in their second week of the season. Results: 3/8 vs. Millbrook (L 12-9), 3/9 vs. Jordan (W 13-7), 3/11 vs. Leesville Road (W 11-9)
Conference 4 Standings: 1. Wakefield (4-0), 2. Millbrook (4-1), 3. Broughton (3-1) 4. Huskies (4-2), 5. Sanderson (2-2), T6. Enloe (1-2), T6. Leesville Road (1-2), 8. Wake Forest (0-3)
