Introduction
Fresh off of a favorable 5-4 win over Wakefield, Husky soccer heads into their final game of the regular season. Logan Shytle and Nick Gallo both had 2 goals in the win, while Hector Oropeza added one of his own. Tuesday’s win is just another example of Heritage’s ability to pull off a W in intense games this season. Close and gutsy performances like these have helped make the Huskies a stronger team, and should benefit them this postseason. Tonight, the 10-6-3 Huskies look to secure 3rd place in the Cap 8 and lock in their playoff position with a win over the Broughton Capitals.
About Broughton
Broughton’s Men’s Soccer has always been one of the best teams at the school. With deep playoff runs each of the past several seasons, the Caps are a pinnacle of success in the Cap-8. They enter this game with a 12-6-2 overall record, 8-3-2 in the Cap-8. They have clinched second place in the Cap-8 to Leesville, who clinched the championship with their win on Tuesday. Broughton has had a tough run to the finish line of the regular season. In their past 5 games, the Caps have gone 2-2-1, including their last two games where they lost to Wakefield and tied Enloe. The Caps look to finish off the regular season with a win on Senior Night.
History vs. Broughton
The Huskies are 3-3 in the past 3 years against Broughton, including a very tight 4-3 win on October 5th this season.
Analysis
Biggest Question
Can the Huskies keep the ball in the Broughton end? The Caps are very dangerous if you give them the ball in the opposing end. If the Huskies can sustain pressure in the Broughton end they should be able to end the season on a winning note.
Player To Watch
Logan Shytle. Logan absolutely tore up the Caps in the last meeting between these two games. If he can put up anything near the 4 goals he had on October 5th against Broughton good things are in store for the Huskies tonight.
Prediction
Heritage 3, Broughton 2. Broughton will continue to struggle defensively and let the Huskies free for a few open shots.
